Starting more that Starters

Welcome to The Monarch Fellowship!

In case you haven’t checked out our About page yet, we are a community nonprofit striving to help our local native wildlife in the city of Los Angeles.

When we learned that the monarch population fell from 4.5 Million in 1980 to about 30,000 today we were shocked and knew we had to do something. We learned that monarchs only lay their eggs on native milkweeds, and having a corridor, or channel of CA covered in this specific habitat component is critical. With more and more of CA being planted with non-native ornamentals, the native habitat which naturally supports pollinators, birds and yes, our beautiful monarchs is few and far between.

We are dreaming about building a corridor up the Southern CA coast for Monarchs and learning more about native planting, and how we as a community can grow into supporting wildlife in the city.

We will be posting information about planting, fun facts, activities, research and updates on what we are working on!
