Initial Maintenance
Here’s a note… We selected hardy drought tolerant plants that should survive the summer and do well with heat and various amounts of water.

Water your newly planted seedlings with 2 or more gallons of water per plant each time you water. In the first summer, you may need to water as often as 2 or 3 times a week and taper it off to once every two weeks or less as the cool season progresses in fall/winter. After that time, ongoing maintenance watering every two weeks to once a month is recommended, but not mandatory. NOTE: Native milkweed goes dormant during the cool season, so if you see your milkweed plant turn brown during this time, it is not dead. Its roots are still active and you should continue to water it periodically until it "wakes up" from its slumber in the springtime.
